  • It’s world menopause day - stress can be a big factor in contributing to hot flushes. I certainly had more than normal this morning heading in to the operating theatre for a procedure on my leg due to a melanoma. I was definitely stressed. The menopause can affect people’s lives in so many ways but it doesn’t make people incapable, it just means you might have to offer support in different ways or adjust how you speak to someone. How can you help someone to feel supported and not judged ?   • Ever been promised something only to be let down. Have you volunteered to help and then not managed to do so? We all have good intentions but sometimes we over promise and under deliver. At work, people used to remember the person who delivered the result, not the person who had the idea. ⁠ ⁠ Avoid the people-pleasing by saying 'yes' to everything and everyone and then finding little time to complete everything. Plan and focus on a couple of things at a time to avoid overwhelm. ⁠ ⁠ But most of all, do what you want to do and what you love.   • How can you make yourself laugh today (although not at other people's expense). I laughed the other day at how bad my cooking was. I think it was the worst meal I have ever made. But you know what, I gave new things a try and I had fun doing it.
